About Jan Austin, PH.D., MCC, BCC Jan Austin is a master coach, leadership program facilitator and author who brings more than sixteen years’ experience as an independent coaching and consulting professional and twenty years’ experience as a public sector organizational leader. Since launching her firm in 1998 she has worked with thousands of leaders in a variety of organizations including the Fortune 500, academia, and the U.S. Government. In addition, she has mentored hundreds of aspiring organizational and life coaches to establish themselves in the coaching profession.

As the founding director of Corporate Coach University in 1998, one of the first international coaching schools dedicated to training organizational coaches from the U. S. and abroad, Jan was a key contributor in the development of organizational coaching as a distinct coaching discipline. She has been a faculty member with Coach University and Corporate Coach University since 1998 and a faculty member with the University of Texas at Dallas’s Executive Coaching Training program since 2010. An expert in the area of organizational leadership excellence, she is the author of What No One Ever Tells You About Leading For Results: Best Practices from 101 Real World Leaders.
Jan’s government clients have included mid-level and senior level government leaders at the Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Labor, National Labor Relations, Missile Defense Agency, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Geological Survey, Department of Energy, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Social Security Administration, U.S. Forest Service, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, Army Corps of Engineers, among others. Since 2011 she has served on the instructor team as well as the coaching team for the Department of Defense’s Defense Senior Leadership Development Program (DSLDP). She has been a member of the executive coaching faculty of the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) since 2004.
Jan has worked with private sector organizational leaders from Structural Integrity, Coca Cola, Wells Fargo, Pfizer, the Bank of Bermuda, Morgan Stanley, Forest Pharmaceuticals, CI Technologies, People’s Bank, Cendant, Kitchell Corporation, Power Construction, Spirit Aerosystems, Ethox Corporation, the Medical College of Georgia, Marsh at Work Solutions, Aviva Investors, Kodak, Abbott Laboratories, Astra Zeneca, Marriott, Ernst and Young, Frito-Lay, and Structural Integrity. Her work with Kodak, which included strategic culture change consulting, coaching and leadership development programs that impacted over 400 leaders at all levels, was featured in both Fortune and Time Magazines.
Jan’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a master’s degree in public administration. She completed her doctorate in organizational development and transformation in 2013. Her doctoral research examined humility in organizational leaders. She is a graduate of Coach University’s program in personal coaching and a graduate of Corporate Coach University’s program in corporate coaching. She has held the designation of Master Certified Coach (MCC) from the International Coach Federation since 2001 and the designation of Board Certified Coach (BCC) from the Center for Credentialing in Education since 2011.
